New Carmex Goodies – Handbag Must Haves

Hi you. Today I thought I’d share with you the beauty(ish) item I’ve recently been reaching most for, something that quite obviously has become a handbag and pocket must have. You can tell from the title that it’s some new Carmex goodies so I have pictures and thoughts to share with you all.

I introduce you to the latest additions to the Carmex family, these gorgeous smelling Carmex Ultra Moisturising Click Sticks. These come in three amazing smelling flavours, Vanilla for those who like a sweet smelling scent and fruity Lime and Pomegranate for those who like a more juicier kick to their lips. Now I dislike fruity perfumes, fruity bath products but more some reason I love fruity tastes on my lips. Probably because I can sort of get away with eating the products a little bit!

I find that this range of Carmex products has hands down become my favourite, previous to loving the Ultra Moisturising Click Sticks my favourite were the tubes due to convenience but with this you seem to  be able to slather on lots of product and it feels like it moisturises my lips much more than the tube. Probably because I wasn’t applying enough, I’m not really much of a trigger/squeeze happy person and was probably being a little stingy with applying fro the tube. For every day lip balm this has become my absolute favourite discovery, it’s the perfect consistency. Dr Lipp Nipple Cream still remains my favourite luxury balm, but it’s not really day time material, as you may already know it’s a part of my night routine.

The Click Sticks contain Vitamin E and Aloe which help prevent premature ageing and the Aloe helps with soothing. They glide on really well, really silky and they’re really addictive because I keep reaching for it as I love the feel of these on my lips. They also contain SPF 15 which is a bonus as it means my lips remain protected.

So what’s my favourite?

That’s so easy, I absolutely love the Lime Twist flavour, I’m a huge fan of Lime in food and it’s still true when it comes to lip products. I love the scent in this, and the tingly feeling you get when it’s applied. I love adding lime/lemon juice to food and I adore Virgin Mojitos so it was obvious that this flavour was going to be my top pick. As you can see, I’ve already got a back up for when I run out of the one I’m using right now.

I haven’t quite given up my little tub of Carmex however. I still have it and still use it. See I’m a little bit weird in the sense I don’t just apply balms to my lips, I also apply it to cracked skin and cuticles depending on my mood. For some reason I’m not comfortable with applying  fruit flavours to those areas, although I’m sure it’s perfectly safe to. I apply the tub Carmex to the sides of my nose because the winter really makes those areas sore. However I tend to only do that when I’m home otherwise my weird-ness would be exposed to the world! With the tub I find I can apply a really thick layer of Carmex on my lips – again something I would only do indoors! For everything else, like outdoor trips and on the go moments the Click Sticks are absolutely perfect.

The Ultra Moisturising Click Sticks are priced at £3.25

I hope you enjoyed today’s post, let me know what flavour you would go for! Tanzina x

Lippy Lovin’: Winter Brights

IMG 4959 1024x682 Lippy Lovin: Winter Brights

I was just about to type that the winter season usually has me reaching for bright colours for my lips to contend with the dreary weather however if truth be told, I always reach for a bright colour – winter or not! But one thing I definitely do look for in lip products in the winter particularly is super hydrating, moisturising lip products and I tend to avoid matte colours as they really do dry yours lips out. So today’s post is about two lip products that I’ve been enjoying, that aren’t matte but are bright.

The first one is something I’ve cheekily been able to get hold of prior to it’s release in January. This is the Avon Perfect Kiss Lipstick in Make Out Red which is a gorgeous buttery bright pink with hints of red, it is so flattering and so moisturising. It’s a nourishing lipstick which is keeping my lips happy as they tend to get quite picky in the winter when it comes to liking lippie products.

As you can see from the pictures above, the lipstick has quite a glossy moisturising finish and is really bright. I think the daylight also washed my skin colour out, it makes it look like I have a black and white effect going on in the picture but I promise I don’t! I was able to preview you the whole range of the Perfect Kiss lipsticks, there are 24 shades of lovely colours from brights to nudes however automatically it was Make Out Red that just popped out to me. From trying this lipstick, I would definitely recommend the range and for those wondering when it will be out, they will be released in January 2013 for £8.50.

This next product is the Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in 08 Bitten Berry and it is a much less maintenance product compared to the Avon lippie. It’s one of those lip products that you don’t really need to be super careful with when applying and I usually touch up on this even when I am on the move, on the tube or walking. However it really adds a pop of colour, it’s like a red plum which is quite deep so quite fitting for the winter season. It is much more sheer than the lipstick above, however it is also more hydrating. It contains shea butter, probably why my lips love it so much!

So as you can tell, it is more of a balm than a lipstick but like I said it really does at that pop of colour that brightens up a gloomy day. The Brilliance balms leave a stain after the product wears off and I can say that I really noticed this. This leaves my lips with a pinky stain which looks like a prettier version of my natural lips. The colour and intensity of the stain depends on the Ph levels of your lips, my lips must have quite a good level as the stain is quite flattering and long lasting. This comes in 7 shades and retails for £12.00, Bitten Berry was the one that appealed to me most but I’m already planning on Radiant Rose to join my collection.

That is it for today’s post, I haven’t really been reaching for many other lip products in the last few weeks. I’ve been using MAC Ruby Woo but I think that the classic red lip look is something I’ll always reach for so that really isn’t anything worth commenting on. Actually I might just do a post on my most used red lips look and just get that off my chest! I’ve been using the Make Out Red in the centre of my red lips to change things up a bit, and I really do like that effect. Having a lighter colour at the centre of your lips makes them look fuller, which is always a good thing. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, and I shall speak to you all soon! Tanzina x

Favourite Bits and Bobs

Morning all, happy September! New month, new start right? I’ve been missing in action for the past two months and I’ve decided to wipe the slate clean and begin again. I was going to do a monthly favourite product, but since I have been using quite a few products that I’ve really enjoyed, I thought you might like to see a few goodies I’ve loved rather than just one. I’ve had quite a few things on my mind and in my life that have kept me away from blogging, but now is the time to change that. Amongst other things I have had a close family wedding, which I thought you might like to see pictures from as there was quite a bit of make up involved so look out for that post as it should be up soon.

First product I have been absolutely loving is this really unique lip balm. This is the Dr. Lipp ‘original nipple balm for lips’, yes you read that right. When I heard of it, imagine an extremely confused face and you’ve just imagined my expression. Nipple balm? I was puzzled but also intrigued and thought I needed to give it ago simply because of the name and origin. It is paraben and odour free, non-sticky, multi -purpose and 100% natural. It sounds great but still I found it difficult to think something that was originally made for nipples could be effective for the lips. It was made originally for nursing mothers, so as you can imagine it is incredibly gentle and safe  for even infants. My experience with it has been amazing, no other lip balm I own can compare. When I have rough lips, I don’t even turn to my trusty Lush lip scrub, I simply put this beauty on before bed and wake up with soft lips in the morning. I use it more as a treatment than a apply-every-hour-lip balm, at £11.50 it is on the pricey side for a normal lip balm but super cost effective for a lip treatment. Plus I have a stash of Vaseline, Carmex, Bodyshop lip butters and Blistex to get through but without a doubt this is so much more effective than all of them combined. I know that this has quickly become a must repurchase item for me, and to be fair I really don’t mind. You can pick it up here

The summer heat this year has been on and off (basically like all the years here in the UK!), however this has been my busiest summer ever and I’ve been getting overheated and flustered much more than I thought I would. The Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water has become a saviour of mine, I’ve been through two already and am currently loving my third can just as much as the first. I tend to get blotchy uneven skin tone when I’m hot and though I consider myself lucky due to not being prone to break outs, my uneven blotchy skin sometimes gets to me. I’ve been using this, and of course the immediate affects have been simply to cool me down, refresh and hydrate my skin. However I’ve also noticed after a few weeks of using my skin doesn’t tend to be as blotchy, it’s more even toned even in stifling work conditions! The air condition at work was down for a while, so I’m impressed. I probably won’t use it as much in the winter though. No, scratch that, I will be returning back to London in a few weeks and remembering those stuffy underground tube carriages makes me realise that this little can may have to remain in my handbag for quite some time! You can pick it up here for £6.50

The Arora Pomegranate Passion Shower Nectar. This product is the best in its category that I have ever discovered. Quite a statement, but it literally is the best shower gel I have ever used. When it comes to in shower hydration, moisturising qualities etc I’ve never really bought in to any of that, all I recognise is shower gels that clean well and whether the scents linger. This shower gel leaves the whole bathroom smelling so good, lingers on my skin so I can smell it all day long, well at least a large majority of the day. At the price of £3.99 I am so impressed. Out of everything in this post, this is definitely my favourite. If someone uses it in my home, I can instantly tell because the scent lingers in the bathroom for a while, I honestly love it and tend to get cross as it’s MINE and not for sharing. It lathers well, cleans well and doesn’t leave my skin dry. What more can you ask from a shower gel? I hope they bring out more scents in the range, especially some Christmas scents! The only thing that lets me down is this scent/flavour is so hard to find in Superdrug. They have all the rest except pomegranate and after trying them all this remains my favourite. Online shopping shall have to do. You can get it here

When it comes to beauty, my nails have been taking a bashing over the past two months. I’ve had nail polish on constantly and currently I’m trying to give my nails a rest before I embark on an Orly nail treatment (more on that later!). But I have noticed a pattern emerging in terms of nail polish wear, I’ve been reaching to grab Filthy Gorgeous London nail polishes quite a bit, I love how easily they go on, how they don’t smudge and also they don’t seem to chip either. The consistency is really smooth and I think because of that, I know I can simply paint my nails if I’m in a rush for work and not worry about it getting messy, difficult and time consuming which is always a negative when painting nails. My favourite colour has to be this gorgeous coral toned pink called ‘Rosey Posey’, bright florescent pinks tend to sometimes clash with my skintone however this colour suits me perfectly. It’s a perfect summer bright colour and brightens out any outfit I am wearing, even all black outfits. You can take a look at them here

That is my current favourites, I’ve done lots and lots of beauty shopping recently for both myself and for material for this website (99% for myself, let’s be honest!) and I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you all. I have missed blogging, but sometimes you have to take time out especially when you feel like you want to curl up in a ball and sleep for a very long time! I hope you have all been well though and thank you for reading. If you liked this post please like via bloglovin’ it would really make my day!
